The Kind of Coffee I Wanted in my Kitchen
I began drinking coffee regularly shortly after high school, and I honestly blame duck hunting for most of it.
Early mornings sitting in a cold duck blind waiting on legal shooting time will teach you to appreciate a strong cup of black coffee pretty quickly.
Somewhere along the way, coffee became less about the caffeine boost and more about the ritual of getting the day started.
A thermos of piping hot black-as-used-motor-oil coffee riding in the cupholder on the way to that secret spot (even though it wasn’t as big of a secret as we thought). Steam rolling out into the crisp air from that first pour. Quietly waiting for the rest of the world to wake up.
Over time, that same appreciation for good coffee followed me into the kitchen too.
These days, before holiday celebrations or family gatherings at our house, I’ll usually get up before everyone else, make a strong cup or couple of cups of strong black coffee before I start on the cooking. The kitchen is still quiet. Ingredients start to clutter the countertops. Knives come out. Earbuds go in or music gets turned on in the background.
That first cup always feels like more than the beginning of a new day. The start of something bigger.
As I spent more time cooking, writing my recipes, and ultimately creating this, I realized that I wanted a coffee that embodied that atmosphere that I enjoy so much.
Not in some overly polished or trendy way.
Just good coffee that belongs in a real kitchen, or thermos heading to your favorite spot.
The kind poured early in the morning while the kids are still sleeping and breakfast is cooking.
That’s what led me to partner with a distributor and create Robinson Coffee.
I wanted coffee that fit naturally into the kind of life I’ve been building.
Strong coffee.
Good food.
Quiet mornings before the day gets moving.
And a kitchen that feels lived in instead of staged.
I’ll never claim to be a coffee expert, and Robinson Coffee isn’t meant to feel complicated.
It’s simply the coffee that I wanted in my kitchen.
